Page Updates Not Showing | WordPress & Elementor Troubleshooting

Have you updated a page in WordPress or Elementor, but the changes aren't appearing on your live website? This is one of the most common issues website owners encounter and is usually caused by caching. In most cases, your changes have been saved successfully—they're simply not being displayed yet. This guide will walk you through the most common causes and solutions.

Why This Happens

All Rank Really High websites use WordPress with Elementor and a website caching solution such as LiteSpeed Cache or Hummingbird.

Caching improves website speed by temporarily storing copies of your pages. While this makes your website load faster for visitors, it can sometimes delay newly published changes from appearing immediately.

In some cases, your browser or internet provider may also be displaying a cached version of the page.

Before You Begin

First, confirm that your changes were actually saved.

In Elementor:

  1. Click Publish or Update.
  2. Wait for the confirmation message indicating your changes have been saved.
  3. Refresh the page inside the editor to verify your edits are still present.

If your changes are visible in Elementor but not on your live website, continue with the steps below.

Step 1: Refresh the Page

Sometimes your browser simply needs to reload the latest version.

Try:

  • Refreshing the page.
  • Performing a hard refresh (Ctrl + F5 on Windows or Cmd + Shift + R on Mac).
  • Opening the page in an Incognito or Private Browsing window.

If your changes appear in an Incognito window, the issue is likely related to browser caching.

Step 2: Clear Your Browser Cache

Your browser may still be displaying an older version of the page.

Try:

  • Clearing your browser cache and cookies.
  • Closing and reopening your browser.
  • Testing the page in another browser or on another device.

Step 3: Clear Your Website Cache

Because Rank Really High websites use LiteSpeed Cache or Hummingbird, the website itself may still be serving a cached version of the page.

If you have permission to manage cache:

LiteSpeed Cache

  1. Log in to WordPress.
  2. From the top admin toolbar, select LiteSpeed Cache.
  3. Click Purge All.
  4. Wait a few moments and refresh your page.

Hummingbird

  1. Log in to WordPress.
  2. Open Hummingbird from the WordPress dashboard.
  3. Navigate to Caching.
  4. Click Clear Cache.
  5. Refresh your website.

Note: Depending on your website configuration, these options may only be available to administrators.

Step 4: Clear Elementor's Cache

Elementor also stores temporary files to improve performance.

To regenerate Elementor's files:

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard → Elementor → Tools.
  2. Click Regenerate CSS & Data.
  3. Refresh your website.

This often resolves styling or layout changes that aren't appearing correctly.

Step 5: Check the Correct Page

Make sure you're editing the correct page.

Sometimes websites have:

  • Draft pages
  • Duplicate pages
  • Landing pages
  • Template pages
  • Location-specific pages

Verify that the URL you're editing matches the page you're viewing on your live website.

Step 6: Check for CDN or External Cache

Some websites use additional caching services or Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), which may continue serving an older version of your page even after WordPress has been updated.

If your website uses an external caching service, it may need to be cleared as well.

If you're unsure whether your website uses additional caching, contact Rank Really High Support.

Step 7: Wait a Few Minutes

Although most updates appear immediately after caches are cleared, some systems may take a few minutes to refresh across all visitors and locations.

If you've already cleared your browser and website cache, waiting a short period before checking again can sometimes resolve the issue.
